I have always been passionate about baking and cake decorating. I began by baking and decorating cakes for my children’s birthdays 30 years ago. After becoming a member of a cake decorators club and the New Zealand Cake Decorating Guild my passion for cake decorating became renewed and is now an obsession.
I would rather buy a new piece of cake decorating equipment than buy a new dress.
As a trained Primary Teacher who majored in Art and Design Technology I enjoy transferring my teaching skills and tutoring others in the art of cake decorating. There is nothing like the smile of a student when they successfully complete their first cake project and they cannot wait to learn more.
I know I have the best job in the world as cake decorating allows me to interact with clients to discuss their requirements and ideas in order to come up with a unique design for their cake for whatever is the special occasion. I derive great enjoyment from working with my client’s to design the perfect cake for their special occasion.
Whether it be a themed cake with a custom made character(s) or bringing together a unique wedding cake for the client’s special day A unique personalised piece of art. The best things about my career in cake decorating is the new challenges it presents me with, with each new project and the smiles on the client’s faces when they see their unique cake and the wonderful feedback about how yummy my cakes taste.
